Moral dilemma adventure game Gods Will Be Watching due in June

We all like to think we'd do the right thing, but I suspect that "the right thing" to you means not apologising profusely to a hostage for the inconvenience, but rather shooting them in the leg. We'll get to judge each other in June, as publisher Devolver Digital today announced that's when a whole heap of moral dilemmas are coming our way in Gods Will Be Watching.

Deconstructeam's dilemma 'em up sees a space-captain trying to weather out a deeply unpleasant space-situation, peppered with hostage scenarios, torture, biochemical weapons, bleak wilderness, and unpleasant choices for you to make.

"Each decision is crucial and players will need to choose between the lives of their team and the saving the world from genocide," Deconstructeam says. "There's no good or evil, just decisions, with only you and the gods as a judge to your actions." You will be able to compare your choices with other players', though, if you fancy a guilt trip.

Deconstructeam came up with the idea at game jam Ludum Dare 26, putting together a prototype you can play online for free.

Gods Will Be Watching is due on PC, Mac, and Linux in June. Pre-ordering from the official site will get you a 10% discount, bringing it down to $8.99, and eventually a Steam key. A mobile edition was once planned, though Devolver made no mention of that in today's announcement.

Not really related to this article, Alice, but I read Cara Ellison's piece you were a part of last night and found it very interesting. Sounds like you guys put on a really fun event, good job.

Reminds me of Hotline Miami graphics. Looks interesting.

Please consider supporting this game. Only $8.99 pre order. Interesting premise, original available to play online, comes from an idea at a game jam. True indie game, we need more nice things like this. Group therapy costs all points ;)
