StarDrive 2 blasting off in September

As recently as 2012, I could approach people in the street, look them square in the eye and ask their opinions on space, only to receive a blank-faced reply of "Never 'eard of it guv." But now, oh now everyone adores space! Riding that rocket to the stars, StarDrive creator Zero Sum Games has announced a sequel to its spaceborne 4X strategy game, logically titled StarDrive 2. "StarDrive 2 represents the culmination of two decades of love for the 4X genre and five years of work on the StarDrive universe," Zero Sum CEO Daniel DiCicco said in yesterday's announcement. "Here we have taken everything we have learned--our successes, our failures, and our passion--and made a 4X game that we are incredibly proud of." What exactly is different in the sequel, on top of the usual build-explore-research-schmooze-murder 4X shenanigans, is something of a mystery for now. Divine what you may from the handful of announcement screenshots. StarDrive 2 is expected to launch on PC, Mac, and Linux in September, published by Iceberg Interactive.
