Atlus USA has finally announced a North American release for Persona 5, alongside a variety of spin-offs. The US release will trail the Japanese release by a few months. It'll be available on PS3 in 2015. The announcement shares no new details regarding the JRPG sequel, but an updated English language trailer reveals that the publisher is anticipating an M rating for the game.

In addition to Persona 5, Atlus USA has confirmed localization plans for a number of Persona-related spin-off games. First up is Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. Coming to Nintendo 3DS this fall, this cross-over with Etrian Odyssey brings chibi versions of the characters of Persona 3 and 4 to the gameplay of the Etrian series. It is, as Atlus points out, the first time the Persona franchise will be available on a Nintendo system.

"Trapped in an other-world filled with Shadows, the protagonists from Persona 3 and Persona 4 each have different events to follow, allowing the player to choose and experience two different plotlines. As both groups seek a way out of the labyrinth, they will run in to two new characters, Rei and Zen, who may hold the secret to this new mystery," Atlus details.

Next up is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall. A follow-up to Persona 4 Arena, the sequel takes place a few days after the P-1 Grand Prix of the first game. "The city of Inaba gets enveloped in a thick red fog and Mitsuru, Akihiko, Fuuka, and Aigis are shown as prisoners on the Midnight Channel. The Investigation Team from Persona 4 and former SEES from Persona 3 must once again fight to their limits in the new P-1 Climax tournament to rescue them and finally uncover the true culprit behind the deadly tournaments," Atlus describes.

Obviously, the sequel will introduce new attacks and characters, including Yukari Takeba and Junpei Iori from Persona 3 and a brand new character, Sho Minazuki.

Finally, Persona 4: Dancing All Night will be available on Vita in 2015. Developed by Dingo Inc, the company behind the Hatsune Miku series, Dancing All Night follows Persona 4's Rise return to Inaba as an idol. "After hearing rumors about the Midnight Stage, she checks a certain website at midnight and sees a mysterious movie clip and, you guessed it, winds up on the "other side." Worse yet, she finds out her junior idol peers from the group Kanamin Kitchen are missing as well. She has no choice but to send an SOS to the Investigation Team to help rescue the missing idols."

It's coming to Vita because producer Katsura Hashino wants to thank all the Vita owners that bought Golden. "We wanted to give them another Persona game they could enjoy on that platform," he said.

Why couldn't they just port it to the ps4?

did they ever port 3 to the ps3?

Nope. They ported 3 to PSP and 4 to Vita though.

I seriously doubt they'll do that with this. There's just not much reason to, given the install base size differences and the relatively niche crowd that picks up these games.

Atlus never really had their own engine on PS3. Catherine was built on Gamebryo, and Persona 4 Arena is on the engine that Arc System Works uses for BlazBlue. Persona 4 Golden on the Vita was essentially their first internally-developed next-gen console engine release.

Yes, what shortsighted idiots to not spend a bunch of money porting last-gen titles at the dawn of a new generation when there's only what, 5 million or so PS4s, as opposed to just sticking with the 80+ million PS3s.

I'm sure we'll (much like this generation) start to see ports up to the PS4/XBO once the install base is larger and this new generation has been around for several years. It's also significantly less meaningful than moving from PS2 to PS3, given that we're not moving from SD to HD anymore.

It would be great if Sony could release some kind of "HD Upgrade SDK" which made it really easy to 'port' a PS3 game to PS4. Then they could just start a budget line of PS3 games slightly upgraded for the new console. Even if it is just a higher resolution version of the game, there are some people who would like to play some of these PS3 games and don't want to use their PS3 anymore (or never had one). But I guess this is what Gaikai will be for?

              port.exe C:\Games\GT6PS3\*.* /e C:\Games\GT6PS4\

              it's that easy

They might. With how well the machine is selling everywhere I would not take any of these late gen games off the cross gen port list.

It's a lot different than it was for the PS2 to PS3 transition where the PS3 started off very slow and early development on the machine was a huge hassle.

Well, we've had a new SMT more recently than a new Persona, so it's only fair.

I'm sure we'll see a new one eventually, but I can't help thinking it's unlikely to be on a console.

Would also prefer to see a true SMT game on PS3 rather than a new Persona game however given Atlus is one of the last bastions that are willing and able to make non-cookie cutter, non-MMO RPG's I'll take what I can get.
