Lightning Returns closes the book on the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy, bringing it all to a satisfying conclusion. But we might not have seen the last of Lightning herself, as director Motomu Toriyama says her popularity may well lead to some cameos.

"For Lightning, her story ends here in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, as this game is meant as a finale to this series," Toriyama told Siliconera. "But we know that Lightning is an extremely popular character, even when compared to other Final Fantasy characters. So there is a possibility that Lightning would appear in other future Final Fantasy titles, not as a protagonist, but as a guest character."

Whatever appearances she might make, it probably won't be tied into the story. More likely the guest spots would be crossovers like her appearance in Final Fantasy 14, or the Cloud costume making an appearance in Lightning Returns.

about 4 hours into the game. I like it so far but the time limit mechanic is really really taking away from my overall enjoyment of the game. I wish Square would stop doing stuff like this - they routinely shoot themselves in the foot with things like this.

In 13 it was the timed fights with barthendelous, in 10 it was dodging 200 lightning bolts. I know it is the age of the internet and you can't really make things hard to find anymore, but these stupid constraints take away from a really well built game.

I'm nearing 20 hours. The time thing actually isn't so bad. Use the freeze time thing when you need it, or you just want to explore around. You'll also be able to get more EP as you level up. I LOVE the battle system in this game.

yeah, I still have just 5 and I've been using it to cure myself. I'm hoping I'll adjust to the time thing - have you gotten to the end and pulled a new game+ or are you still in the original week?

Yeah I really don't like the time mechanic either, I feel so rushed. I wish I could just freely run around and explore.

If they just made a standard JRPG with this battle system it would of been amazing but there is so much weird stuff in this game (the time element, no xp from battles, the fetch quests that give you no clue what to do) it makes it harder than it should be to enjoy. Still a top of the line battle system.
