Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians, the spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Tactics from creator Yasumi Matsuno, has crossed its crowdfunding goal with hours to spare. The game is in development for iOS and Android devices, but the additional funding will allow the publisher Playdek to release on PC, Mac, and Linux as well.

The Kickstarter campaign crossed its goal of $600,000 with approximately 20 hours to go. It currently stands to end later tonight, and has added an additional $30,000 so far. The funding will almost certainly fall short of some of its other stretch goals, which would have led to releases on Vita ($1 million), PS4 ($1.25 million), and 3DS ($1.5 million).

"You guys are the best and we are so grateful to have you with us on the rest of the journey!" read an update from Playdek. "Thank you again so much, and stay tuned because this is only the beginning of our adventure together!"

The FFT-like strategy game is aiming for a 2014 release, while the PC, Mac, and Linux versions won't come around until 2015. Like Tactics, it's inspired by European history, and will take place in a medieval fantasy world called Rasfalia.
