Nintendo is bringing a fresh franchise to North American shores by introducing its audiences to Inazuma Eleven. Today's Nintendo Direct showed some new footage of Level-5's downloadable game based on the popular Japanese anime franchise, which offers a bizarre combination of RPG elements and soccer.

Players can raise their team's levels in order to earn special moves to use on the soccer field, such as a giant ethereal hand to aid your goalie. Those looking to try out this interesting mix can do so very soon, as Inazuma Eleven will hit the Nintendo 3DS eShop later today.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Its the weakest of the Ina11 games, but its still great. Its a mix of RTS and RPG gameplay. Really glad it made its way to our shores.
