Earlier this year, Nintendo confirmed that it would begin bringing Game Boy Advance games to the Wii U's eShop, enabling users to expand their game libraries with a number of classics. Today, during the company's latest Nintendo Direct special, president Satoru Iwata confirmed the first three games that will be offered, starting this April.

Metroid Fusion will lead the charge, followed by the all-ages role-playing adventure Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. All of them will arrive within the first month, with more titles expected to come after.

These games originally came out a while ago under Nintendo's Ambassador program for the 3DS, but this marks the first time they'll be debuting on the Wii U. No word yet if they will come to the 3DS for general purchase. Pricing and release dates weren't given for the games.

Why in the world would you put the GBA rerelease instead of the original SNES Yoshi's Island to Wii U. Doesn't the GBA version have some nasty pixel scaling artifacts?

Nintendo doesn't actually own the rights to the SuperFX chip, so for the GBA port, they actually redid everything the SuperFX chip was originally responsible for.

Crap, I guess that's why it was never released on Wii. The SNES version is so much better

Do modern emulators handle it better?

perfectly. Well.. minus the one or two frames of input lag you get with an emulator but there is no fixing that.

      They need to get
      Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
      Mario Golf Advance Tour
      Metroid Zero Mission
      Zelda: Minish Cap
      Ninja 5-0
Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising

on there. Maybe FFTA & Golden Sun, too.

Anyone consider all this too little, too late for the WiiU? I have one, just gauging. I still think it has a lot of potential and a lot of these games look fun.
