Strider retrospective reintroduces Hiryu

Strider arrives next week on PC and consoles, but some of you may not be familiar with the badass ninja. Thankfully, Capcom is helping out with a retrospective video and also detailing a pre-order bonus for the PC version along the way.

Strider is a week away from returning to PC and consoles. But I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "Who is this Hiryu person and why should I care about his ability to make enemies literally explode with the swing of his blade?" That's as good a cue as any for a quick refresher and Capcom is happily helping that cause with a Strider retrospective, while also revealing a pre-order bonus for the new game's PC version.

The video below details the Strider series in full up to this point, beginning with Hiryu's arcade origins and continuing through his NES and PlayStation classics. It also gives a glimpse into how Double Helix's new Strider game will combine some the arcade version's action-oriented atmosphere with the NES version's focus on exploration.

Strider will arrive on February 18 on PS3 and PS4, before hitting PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 the next day. The PC version also features a pre-order bonus in the form of a digital soundtrack and exclusive concept art bundle.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
