Titanfall drops on Xbox 360 two weeks late

While Titanfall will arrive for PC and Xbox on schedule, Bluepoint Games will need a few more weeks for the Xbox 360 version. The current-gen Titanfall is now set to arrive on March 25.

Titanfall is ready to take the battlefield on March 11 for Xbox One and PC, but those that haven't made the jump to the next-generation will have to wait a few more weeks. EA has announced that the Bluepoint Games-developed Xbox 360 version of Titanfall will not be available until March 25.

"In these last few weeks before launch, Respawn is in the final stages of polishing the Xbox One and PC versions of the game," said EA executive vice president Patrick Soderlund on EA's website (via Joystiq). "Bluepoint is doing the same with the Xbox 360 version. To give them the time they need to put the finishing touches on the current-gen version of the game, we are moving the Xbox 360 ship date to March 25 in North America and March 28 in Europe. The extra two weeks will ensure the full world of Xbox gamers has an awesome experience."

A Titanfall beta is scheduled to his PC and Xbox One later this month, but there is still no word on whether the playable beta will make its way to Bluepoint's version of the game.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I'm pretty sure this will be as buggy as every BF release has been, or possibly worse.

I kind of doubt it, isn't it made with source?

It's tangentially related to EA so it's going be a buggy, broken, consoled cash grab.

I didn't know EA was a developer. I thought Respawn was developing this game.

Satire, chief. EA is simply publishing it. People seem to think they're in charge of everything from gameplay design to what the developer's secretary wears at the office.

They are in charge of schedules, and from experience, the games they PUBLISH are buggy on release because they don't put enough time towards testing. They DO decide on testing schedules. The fact that the public beta is being released less than a month before the game is released reinforces the fact that history repeats itself when it comes to EA.

Respawn isn't developing the 360 version, I'm not sure who is though.

Dice has history, respawn (or infinity ward) does not.

I doubt it for several reasons. IW games were usually somewhat solid out of the box, at least in comparison to BF games. Secondly, with the amount of heat EA has taken lately for shitty launches, I'd be very surprised if they let this out of the gates in such a state, when they're really not with their backs against the wall in regards to some deadline, like a console launch of a competing shooter coming out.

All that said, I'm still not preordering. No way.

Even the best elephant rider needs time to turn the elephant. And EA is a giant fucking mammoth with a culture that will take years to change even if they're very serious about it. I seriously doubt they've managed to change all that much in less than a year.

That said, your note about IW making solid games may be relevant, but I don't know... IW games were published by Activision. Whether the solid releases were more because of IW or more because of Activision remains to be seen (and even after TF comes out, we can only speculate based on limited information of course). Also, did Respawn manage to keep most of IW's programming team? And most of the in-house QA team? Also relevant but unknown info (to me at least).

I'm definitely curious how it turns out. I doubt I'll ever buy it because it means reinstalling Origin, and worse, giving money to EA... but there's always a chance. Can EA really redeem itself so quickly?

This just in... The Xbox 360 version of Titanfall will only allow matches of 3v3 and only one person on each team can pilot a titan at a time.
