Space Pirates and Zombies 2 revealed

Space Pirates and Zombies was far more interesting than one would expect with a name like that, a jolly top-down space shooter where you build your own ship. Now developer MinMax Games has revealed Space Pirates and Zombies 2 with a first trailer, looking fancier than ever as hundreds of independent AI ships get back to grinding out life in an unforgiving galaxy.

Don't worry about the "zombies" bit in the name, that's mostly backstory. In the wake of a dreadful zombie plague which swept the galaxy, everything's collapsing and exhausted, so everyone's after the same limited resources. SPAZ 2 has 200 persistent AI captains out amongst the stars, and, just like you can, they're all scavenging, building, forming alliances, and fighting.

So off you go, out into the void, to scrape together ship parts, connecting them onto your ship like interstellar LEGO, and blowing enemies apart to steal their bits. On top of the single-player campaign, it'll support multiplayer arena battles and local co-op.

SPAZ 2 is coming to PC, Mac, and possibly Linux too. MinMax says it's "hoping people can play it in some early access form before the end of 2014." Hit the official site for more information.

Shooting crystals off asteroids were the worst missions. The trailer would have done a better job if it never hinted at those.

I hope they add a ton more radio communications so they don't feel as repetitive!

I loved the first one even if it was pretty repetitive, this is likely a release day purchase for me.
