Hollywood is investing in an upcoming Twitch and Major League Gaming eSports tournament. Lionsgate is promoting Ender's Game by giving away a $10,000 cash prize for Starcraft 2.

The "Ender's Game on Blu-ray Tournament" officially kicks off later this week with the first qualifying round being livestreamed through Twitch from February 5-9 and the second round being streamed through MLG.TV from February 11-16. Each qualifying round will feature 16 of the world's best Starcraft 2 players. Winners from the two qualifying rounds will then go on to face each other in the championship round for the $10,000 grand prize on February 22. The championship round will also be livestreamed through Twitch.

The timing for the tournament coincides with the DVD and Blu-ray release of the film, February 11. While the tournament itself isn't likely to mean much to those outside of the eSports community, it's just another sign of how companies are looking to invest in the growing medium.

I am strangely attracted to this tournament, I'm kinda lost in what's going on in the WCS. Having a little mini tourney like this to watch is going to be sweet.

WCS is just too drawn out for me. I like the grand finals, but the ~year leading up to it is pretty meh.

Then again, I'm more of a fan of the double elimination tournaments that span a weekend, so w/e.
