  • Garnett, Jeff, and crew...

Thanks for the 4 great years of Weekend Confirmed. I followed you over here from 1UP Yours (although I used to frequent this site back in my Quake/Shugashack days). You've been my weekend or Monday morning commute constant for many, many years and I'm going to miss the unique mix of personalities and great range of insight on numerous topics.

Garnett, I hope wherever you land next is as rewarding and challenging as you are looking for and it affords you the opportunity to continue to share what you're thinking about gaming with the rest of us. Uncertainty is never easy, but if the personality on the podcast is a true representation of yourself, I'm sure you will succeed in whatever endeavor you choose to pursue.

    Good luck and thanks.

    -Bill "Hemidal" Slyngstad

  • The comment you had with the passing of the late great Ryan Davis applies to you as well, Garnett Lee. You are all that is great about being in this business. Passion matched with vision, effort and contribution is a recipe for the success you have reaped all this time. You have surrounded yourself with great people across the years and you've become even better than ever. I've followed you from your One Up Yours podcasts have been a fan ever since. We know we will meet you again podcast and bringing it every time. I just want to let you know that I appreciate you and all you've done for the community. As you know, there are many of your listeners who don't even post here and I know a bunch of them who feel the same way I do. It's kind of the Rule of 250: If you affect one person one way or the other, that's going have an influence on about 250 others they know. Anything that can be said in a positive light, that's what I tell my friends because you are all that. Stay real, stay humble and stay awesome but above all else.: Stay you. We'll catch you when the DJ mixes in the next track. Be blessed, my friend... - Al

  • About NBA2K..

I played NBA 2K13 last year, and it had the same system where you collect virtual currency to improve the stats of your player. You could use real money and buy the virtual currency, but what was better was there was a free mobile app that was connected to your NBA 2K account. Playing daily, you could collect the virtual currency in the app by playing minigames, and you could collect up to 1,000 currency per day.

I did this religiously every day. It probably took about 15-20 minutes to get the 1,000 cap, but it allowed me to improve my player in the game enough where I was a starter and in the MVP race my rookie year.

NBA 2K14 has the same app this year. Collect virtual currency for free, and build your player up without spending real money! I really wish the panel did some research and brought this topic up :)

Last comment.. Jason Paul, Lebron is also 29 ;)

  • Great sendoff for a great show.

Thanks again to Garnett and the whole crew that made this podcast possible listening to Weekend Confirmed made my week for the last few years. I always felt connected to the people on the show and felt like I was taking part in the conversation. I'm sad to see it go but as with all things in life it's not the end but an evolution and I can't wait to see what's next.

P.S. Garnett please continue with game development. The people need a champion in the free to play/micro-transaction space to keep that stuff honest (I'm enjoying Song Blaster quite a lot).

  • I just want to echo what many others have said here. Weekend Confirmed has been my number 1 podcast since it began. While I love listening to others talk passionately about games, I don't have that many podcasts on my weekly download list because I find it so difficult to find anything that matches the quality of WC. Like all great shows, the fact that the hosts and many of the regulars are all good friends really elevates things above the usual old formula that most other shows are stuck with.

When I first found Weekend Confirmed I was stuck in a crap job that I hated. I worked almost every weekend of 2010 and 2011 and one of the things that kept me sane was knowing I'd have you guys to listen to on my lunch break on Saturday and Sunday. When there was nothing else to elicit a chuckle on those long shifts, you guys invariably did. Many wont understand the comfort and feel good factor a simple thing like a podcast can give to people, but for those of us who understand we know its value... and the loss thats almost like losing a friend when its goes.

I hope you get back soon. If you decide to setup some crowd funding thing, I will be delighted to donate. It's the very least I could do considering the 100s of hours of listening pleasure you have given me for free!

    All the best, PT

  • Thanks to everyone who worked on the show in any capacity for four great years!

Thanks especially to Garnett. I can't believe you've been in my ears for the better part of a decade. I've never been invested in any tv show enough to stick with one as long as I've stuck with your shows. I remember being unreasonably excited the first time you read a comment of mine on-air on 1UP Yours! I hope that you're able to work something out in the future that allows me to continue listening to you.

Good Luck in whatever comes next!

    Thanks again,
    <3 Lauren

  • To Garnett & Jeff and everyone involved in bringing Weekend Confirmed to our earholes each week for 4 years; know that every Saturday morning here in Australia for the past 202 weeks, you have brought me so much joy that these small words cannot communicate the gratitude and unwavering respect I hold for each of you. Your passion and dedication to your craft inspire me each and every week. From my own podcast to everything I do, you push me to do better, to make the world that little bit brighter and for that I wish I could shake your hands in person.

And to everyone here on the Shacknews thread; some rather negative conversations aside, the community here makes up for a significant portion of what makes the Weekend Confirmed podcast the greatest in my eyes. You've all shown me so many unique perspectives about so many aspects of the industry that it's been such an intellectually and emotionally enriching 4 year ride.

Thanks you for the memories and I hope to see you all soon,
    Shane
