The Japanese dungeon-crawler Mind Zero is set to come to North America this spring, Aksys Games announced today. It was co-developed by Class of Heroes studio Zerodiv, and will be released both digitally and at retail for $39.99.

Mind Zero puts you in the shoes of Kei, a high school student who forms a contract with a sentient weapon called a "Mind," which in turn grants him dangerous powers. Kei, why would you do that? Anyway, this ultimately leads to trouble, so he and his friends need to discover the secrets of Mind as the government breathes down his neck about the whole "unknown dangerous power" thing.

It's available for preorder at GameStop, which lists the release date as May 27. That seems awfully specific for a placeholder, but for the time being Aksys has only confirmed a spring release window, so don't mark your calendars just yet.

You had me at dungeon crawler... then lost me when half the video was people talking at the screen.

Japan game advertising has always been a bit weird like that. I'm certain it makes complete sense on that side of the pond with visual game novels being a huge market. Demonstrating that part of the game is largely lost in other Countries though.

Hahah; next Shackmeet, I'm bringing the Vita so I can show you some Persona 4 Golden. If you enjoy the content of what's being said as "people talk at the screen", it's really fun.

I read stories on SiliconEra about MIND=0 being a really Persona-y style of game, but the visual novel section with the text card style and really fast J-opera-rock music reminds me a lot of BlazBlue. The story of MIND=0 doesn't sound as appealing to me initially, though; I'll have to wait until Aksys releases some English localized videos.

Yeah, the game could be great, but it doesn't make for a very good advertisement of the game. If it really is Persona level of depth and writing then that's a bit different. I just hate games where they just go on and on and it feels like fluff.
