Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze doesn't bother with the GamePad screen at all

Every Wii U game uses the GamePad in some way, even if it's as meaningless as putting a giant horn button a la Mario Kart 8. But Nintendo's next big Wii U release doesn't bother to use the GamePad for anything.

"It's just blank," Eurogamer says, noting that developer Retro couldn't be bothered to come up with a gimmick for the console's second screen. The game does support off-TV play, however, meaning you'll be able to play on the GamePad screen when your TV is off or being used by someone else.

Given Nintendo's woes with Wii U, many have recommended removing GamePad integration with the console. Games like Donkey Kong Country could easily be a sign of things to come.
