Nearly half of all PS4 owners bought Killzone: Shadow Fall

Perhaps the most high-profile release of the PS4 launch was Killzone: Shadow Fall. Guerrilla Games' shooter is arguably one of the prettiest games on the console, one that serves as a technical showpiece for next-gen. Unsurprisingly, it's sold pretty well, with Sony announcing sales of 2.1 million units worldwide.

With Sony most recently announcing sales of 4.2 million consoles, that means nearly half of all PS4 owners purchased the game.

2.1 million people were mildly entertained.

Pretty much. It's really pretty looking but not particularly that interesting as a game.

The same can be said about every Killzone game. At least the new one does not have Rico in it.

and that's why developers are fine cutting corners to be a launch title. When you have no competition in a market people are dying for content you get a nice sales bump by default.

I agree with you, but as for Killzone: Shadow Fall they did not cut any corners what so ever, my opinion.

by reviews it's actually the worst original Killzone game. I have no idea how Killzone 2/3 have such high aggregate scores when they seem to have been so utterly forgettable amongst most gamers. No one has ever put Killzone in the list of must have Playstation games and yet somehow Killzone 2 has a 90 average?

2 and 3 were really enjoyable, if not remarkable.

Big budget titles, lots of promotion from Sony, and a desire for a PlayStation exclusive shooter franchise.

Killzone: Shadow Fall is an awesome game and really underrated when you compare it to other big name FPS's, it really should get more praise.

Looks like a follow will be made for sure, awesome.

Really? I have Ryse as well it sort of looks smudged out(textures not high rez) if you go very close to a object in Killzone: Shadow Fall it still looks amazingly sharp and they enable killer shaders.

Ryse looks good but Killzone: Shadow Fall looks better to me and technically the effects there are more in KZSF, maybe I have to play more of Ryse I really didn't care for it at all I was like eh I rather play GOW on the PS3.

Hmm you have convinced me to give Ryse another go, it just sits in a stack of games crying all alone neglected atm.

The kill shots in Ryse are really impressive to me, the slow mo stuff. Killzone looks awesome for a console game, but compared to say, Crysis 3... it almost doesn't compare.

I think I'm just jaded on FPS graphics.

The animation is really the only thing that I like about Ryse, the kill shots are cool but really Assassin's creed does as good of a job if not better and that is open world.

I just downloaded a 3gig patch(so I could play) that took like 20 mins to install wtf? Anyways no man the graphics don't compared to Killzone Shadow Fall(I just did a taste test) there is no comparison it actually looked pretty bad. Not only that I dislike the gameplay I prefer GOW a million times over, no wonder I don't play Ryse.

Seriously if you got a buddy with a PS4 check KZ graphics they are really nice, still nothing comes close to a PC there is just no comparison, maybe the updated TR but I am not going to spend $60 to see when I already have it and play in multi screen.

Anyways, I am sure we will see cool games in the following years.

I disagree totally. Ryse was way more fun to me, and prettier. In fairness though, I played Ryse all the way through, and barely got into Killzone, maybe an hour or two in.

Single player looks great but is ultimately a little boring. Multiplayer is hella fun, but the community is so small that I find myself passing it over to play BF4 instead.

I agree. The single player was really good and a decent length compared to other games. It did have some weird sections though that the game could have done without but I used them for a chance to actually check out the scenery which is quite nice!

This has actually become my favorite multiplayer game at the moment. I've always enjoyed the unique multiplayer that the killzone games offer however the PS3 games all had a bit of input lag which made it a bit tricky to play. It seems like they finally got rid of that as multiplayer runs incredibly well! There also seems to be quite a bit of unique abilities and weapons to use this time around which I've been having a blast trying them all out!

I bet almost all of those 2.1 million sold copies were then sold onto other people after they finished that sophomoric game. I certainly put my copy up for sale the minute I finished that game. I bet only a handful of PS4 owners haven't played that game.

I was not a fan of killzone. The motion blur was a little much when playing multiplayer and the menu's were not intuitive when trying to navigate. Single player was OK but was way too boring for me to put too much effort into trying to play. Killzone is a rental game at best, imo.

Maybe because it also came bundled with the PS4? Where I live, the PS4 is currently sold out, but apparently there are some Killzone bundles left. But I don't want to shell out €40 extra for that shitty game, I'd rather wait for resupplies of the bare PS4.
