Titanfall beta coming for PC and Xbox One, Bluepoint behind Xbox 360 port

Titanfall will have a beta for both PC and Xbox One, Respawn has revealed. Details are coming in the next few days, but in the meantime the studio has also revealed that port-house Bluepoint is handling the Xbox 360 version.

Respawn has confirmed that Titanfall will be getting a beta on both PC and Xbox One, following a reportedly leaked date for the occasion. Respawn founder Vince Zampella teased the impending announcement, along with word on the studio behind the Xbox 360 version.

Zampella tweeted (via IGN) that more details on the beta would be shared "in the coming days."

He notably didn't mention a beta for the Xbox 360, but also revealed that Bluepoint Games is working on the port. That's the studio behind several HD collections, like God of War, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear Solid HD. It also handled the Vita version of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

According to a European retailer leak of promotional materials, the beta is set to run February 14-19. Even if accurate for Europe, though, those dates could differ for the North American test.

So? The game is designed for that amount of players. Just because it's less than other games doesn't mean it's inferior.

Trust me, after playing the "Alpha" test, 12 is more than enough. The throwaway AI players are just there to help you decrease your Titan countdown timer. The game is fast paced and becomes chaotic once a few Titans join the fight, especially when they're on auto-pilot.

I never once felt like there weren't enough players for the few hours I played the game. Was Gears of War multiplayer bad because it only allowed 5-on-5 matches?

No, people are just using the low player count as a way to say the game sucks compared to other games that have larger player counts, but don't deliver any better experience.

Yea, it makes sense. If they want bigger player counts there are games out there that provide that.

His comparisons suck because he's comparing player counts of games to Titanfall that aren't even shooters.Starcraft,LOL,and Dota 2 can't NOT be compared to a shooter.

Sorry, but his comparison is a logic fail.I get what he's trying to say,but again,he's comparing Titanfall's playercount to the wrong games.

Gears 1 was 4v4 did it suck? Gears 2 upped it to 5v5 and it still felt fine to me...

who cares? his point is that the game is balanced for a certain number. why does it matter what type of game. also counterstrike is a shooter

Battlefield sized player counts will not work with CODBLOPS sized maps. Hell even Ghosts sized maps couldn't handle BF4 player counts.

That's the analogy he means. If you make maps with 64 people in mind, then yeah 6v6 will suck. If you instead make maps with 12 people in mind, then 6v6 will be perfect.

Sorry but your comprehension is full of fail.

The point is that games are designed and balanced around a particular player count and that changing that player count completely screws up the balance and can make the game not-fun.

When he speaks to LoL and Dota 2 he isn't even talking about player count he's talking about the way the Bots in Titanfall have a similar purpose to the Creeps in MOBA games.

Look at Bad Company when it came out on 360. It was only 24 players My but the size of the maps, respawning on your squad leader, and game modes made it feel like there were more players than it seemed and it was awesome.

What was that PS3 game that was supposed to have what, 64 players, or up to 256, hell I don't know, the maps were ridick as hell huge and it sounded flat out boring for all the talk-up it got. I mean, c'mon, I can't even remember its fucking name a few years later.

What the hell are you talking about?!

                Hyped?

Mostly everyone that I played the game with only heard about MAG through word of mouth, and or heard of it very close to it's release.

MAG was pretty awesome for massive battles. There was virtually no lag early on,but eventually with servers getting taken away,it became very laggy,as in getting shot three and four steps while you are around a corner.

In all, most people that I have heard complaining about MAG are PC FPS players that can't adapt to a controller, and people that were too use to playing COD with it's tiny corridored maps and they couldn't pwn in MAG.

Truth be told, the biggest failure for MAG was Zipper making terrible missteps with the gun and map balancing, but in all,it was the funnest shooter that I've ever played.

Uh, yes, in the 2+ years of development leading up to MAG's release, this game was hyped heavily by Sony. Presented on stage by execs at the E3 in 2008. Promised to change the game for FPS, with its "massive" 256-player maps. Many, many video logs and updates over the months and years, attempting to build anticipation among PS3 gamers, FPS gamers, and bringing in new interest. I mean, damn man, how did you miss it?

The reason your MAG buddies stumbled into it by accident is testament to how much it blew its hype train. And probably, at least as much as how it blew as a game.

It had a massive amount of pre-release buzz. Sony trotted it out at multiple events (including two major E3 previews of it), along with a lot of video and discussion of it. Your recall of this is inaccurate.

How can what I remember not seeing be inaccurate?

If they showed what they showed, fine, but I didn't see it,and neither did a ton of people that don't/didn't constantly read gaming forums, magazines, websites, and whatever other gaming outlets from over four years ago.

Funny thing about that commercial is that it came out after the game was actually released.I can't recall exactly how much longer, but it was at least a month or two.

Is it easy to distinguish between players and AI visually?

Yea, the AI players just look like generic Starship Troopers infantry. Since player characters are pilots, they have different character models. Also, the AI usually travel in packs of 3, have minimal health, and can't move around the environment like pilots(Human players) can.
