Yacht Club Games is ready to dispense some medieval justice with a mighty thrust of their trusty shovel. The old-school throwback platformer, Shovel Knight, now has a release date and will dig into PC, Wii U, and 3DS on March 31.

Shovel Knight tells the tale of a noble knight trained in the art of the ShovelBlade, who ventures out to overcome the Evil Enchantress and save his love from her sinister clutches. The game was originally aiming to arrive before the end of 2013, which the folks at Yacht Club fully acknowledge.

"And if you're wondering why it took so long, let's just say the game got a lot bigger than we originally intended, and we think everyone will be happy with that!" reads a statement on the Yacht Club Games website.

Shovel Knight was one Shacknews' favorite games at 2013's IndieCade. Pre-orders are available on the Yacht Club Games site, which also offers Steam keys. Dig the brand new trailer below!

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
