Marvel's X-Men have arrived on the card battling scene with X-Men: Battle of the Atom, from developer Aeria Mobile. First announced at Comic-Con 2013, this free-to-play card battle game will draw from over 50 years of X-Men lore and feature mutants from across a number of timelines. Gambit head writer James Asmus will be the man adapting some of the series' best stories, like Old Man Logan, Avengers vs. X-Men, and The Dark Phoenix Saga.

X-Men: Battle of the Atom will feature 20-player teams that can clash in real-time 20v20 battles. The game will also feature multi-month story arcs with raid events that culminate in a boss battle against iconic X-villains. New content will release on a regular basis, including characters, stories, and artwork. Of course, given that this is a free-to-play game, you may have to pony up some X-Coins for the really good stuff.

X-Men: Battle of the Atom is available now on the App Store. An Android version is coming soon.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
