Airtight Games, the studio behind Quantum Conundrum, has announced a release date for their newest game, the rhythm-based roguelike Soul Fjord. The new free-to-play effort from Portal lead designer Kim Swift will hit Ouya exclusively on January 28.

Soul Fjord is a randomly-generated roguelike that blends together the fantasy elements of Norse mythology with the soul-tastic funk of the 70's. Players will control the Viking hero, Magnus Jones, whose might is as great as his afro.

If it's a rhythm game, you'd better have some good music. To that end, Airtight has recruited award-winning Journey composer, Austin Wintory. For a look at his contribution to the project, check out the video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
