Yoshi's New Island hatches March 14

Nintendo has announced that Yoshi's New Island will release on March 14.

Yoshi's New Island has set a stake (or egg) in the ground to claim its spot this year. Today Nintendo narrowed its previous spring release window to the much more specific March 14. As previously reported, this game is being produced by Takashi Tezuka, the creative director behind the original SNES Yoshi's Island that us old folks remember so fondly. Yoshi will once again be helping Baby Mario reach his home safely, and presumably he'll be punished for any lapse in his babysitting skills by hearing that annoying whine. Who knew Mario was such a crybaby?

Hmmm, didn't know the original director is on the team. I'm sort of interested now. Yoshi's Island is a great game.

I care more that it plays more like the SNES game.

Same here. Best thing about Yoshi's Island DS was that it felt and played closer to the original SNES game and I'm happy to see that this will follow that template.

Why can't they come up with better names than slapping "new" in the title?

This is from the company who brought you "Super *", "* 64", and a bunch of DS games "cleverly" starting with the letters 'D' and 'S'. I'm not sure why you'd expect better.

Ahhhhghh, Nintendo of Europe hasn't said a word about this and Kirby 3DS.

Really hope both of those arrive also to Europe during spring. Kirby was just released in Japan so western release must not be that far away.

First day perch for both of these.
