Hitman recast for upcoming film, after Paul Walker's death

In addition to Fast & Furious 7, Paul Walker was set to star in the next Hitman movie. However, his recent death cast some doubt on whether the project would continue.

Production is set to start next month, and it appears that Walker has been replaced. Rupert Friend (pictured), who most recently stars in Showtime series Homeland will take the role of Agent 47.

According to Variety (via Gamespot), the film could have been canned after Walker's death because his commitment "was a major part of the film getting a greenlight." However, the game's popularity overseas gave Fox another chance "even without a star like Walker."

In addition to the upcoming film, Square Enix has confirmed that IO Interactive is working on another Hitman game, with the company recently teasing 2014 as an "exciting year" for fans.
