A brief Web site change has sparked speculation that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may be making its way to the new generation of consoles. The official page for the game listed Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as platforms, but Bethesda chalks it up to a bug in their system.
OnlySP (via Eurogamer) showed a screenshot of the platform listing before it was pulled. Bethesda's Pete Hines quickly said on Twitter that the platforms were put up in error. "We have been working on the CMS that runs our sites," he said. "A bug caused platforms that don't exist to show up for some games Sorry for confusion." He has also apologized individually to some fans saying it's "just a bug," but notably hasn't given an outright denial that the game is being ported.
The speculation was bolstered by an e-mail received by some fans that promised an announcement on Sunday, January 12. Hines was more direct about his dismissal of that piece of the story, repeatedly calling it a "fan hoax." This comes just a month after fans were hopeful for a Fallout announcement based on a teaser Web site that also turned out to be a hoax.
