Nintendo must pay 1.8% in 3DS royalties due to patent lawsuit

Last year, Nintendo had to pay $15 million to former Sony employee Seijiro Tomita after he sued over alleged patent infringement over the handheld's use of glasses-free 3D tech. In addition to the lump sum payment, Nintendo must now pay royalty fees for every 3DS system sold.

Law 360 (via Kotaku) reports that "Nintendo must pay Tomita 1.82 percent of the wholesale price" of every 3DS sold from now until the end of the handheld's life. Of course, Nintendo 2DS is exempt from the royalty due to its lack of 3D screens.
