EA had previously announced that UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon 'Bones' Jones, would grace the cover of EA Sports UFC. But there's one more fighter that will join Jones on the cover, determined by over 11 million fan votes. Coincidentally, fans voted for Alexander 'The Mauler' Gustafsson, who squared off against (and, whom many will argue, beat) Jones in September.
"This was a great way to engage fans and we are excited that they selected Alexander Gustafsson as the Cover Vote winner," said UFC President Dana White. "Europe accounted for nearly 40 percent of the web traffic to the Cover Vote during the last week of voting. This overwhelming support from UFC fans in Europe is indicative of the sport's rapidly growing popularity around the world and especially in EMEA. I couldn’t be more excited about the UFC game and the work that the team at EA SPORTS has done."
Alexander Gustafsson has a professional record of 15-2-0, with one of those losses coming to Jones in controversial fashion. Gustafsson beat out former UFC Welterweight Champion, Georges St-Pierre, in the final round of fan voting. You can check out the cover vote reveal in the video below.
EA Sports UFC is scheduled to arrive on Xbox One and PS4 in spring 2014.
