The Collectables is Crytek's shooty first F2P mobile game

Crysis creator Crytek has dabbled in mobile development before with last year's Fibble - Flick 'n' Roll, and now it's having a stab at free-to-play games. The developer today announced The Collectables, which, unlike that little puzzler, is firmly within Crytek's comfort zone of murdering soldiers using big guns.

The game will have players leading squads of class-based murderers on merry little jaunts to engage in real-time man-murdering. Naturally players will get to customize their chaps, unlocking and upgrading weapons and abilities. It's built on Crytek's CryEngine, so it's pretty pretty.

The Collectables is headed to iOS and Android, published through DeNA's Mobage platform. Interested parties can sign up on the official site to receive an exclusive character when the game launches in 2014.
