A new PC patch has been deployed for the PC version of Battlefield 4, with DICE aiming to fix the most frequent causes of client-side crashes.

It's hard to deny that Battlefield 4 has had a few problems. Ok, it's had a lot of problems, to the point that expansions have been halted until further notice. DICE has been working diligently to fix the game's greatest troubles, with a new patch deployed today to help resolve many of the PC version's more egregious issues.

The Battlefield 4 blog compiles a full list of fixes included in this patch:

  • Fixed one of the most frequently occurring client crashes

  • Fixed broken collision on containers with open doors. The bug previously made grenades bounce back even though the doors were open.

  • Fixed a bug in Defuse mode where defenders could win the round by killing all the attackers without disarming the bomb, if the bomb was disarmed in the previous round.

  • Miscellaneous stability fixes further reducing the number of client crashes

  • Fixed side gunner jitter when aiming in attack boats & transport helicopters

  • Fixed some instances of frame rate drops when shooting at large Levolution objects after they have been destroyed (like the radar dish on Rogue Transmission)

  • Fixed broken aiming for passengers on the China Rising dirt bike

  • Fixed a bug where the sound when capturing a flag was not playing correctly

  • Removed a bug that would double save during MP round transition and SP level transition. This fix will reduce the occurrence of corrupted save files.

Whether this new patch leads to improved stability remains to be seen. BF4 players, let us know in the comments whether this patch has helped or hurt the game in any way.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

      Awesome !

I am loving this game, but getting booted when you are first on your team for a random crash was pretty annoying. Hopefully this fix will do it for my pc.

I hope this comes out soon. It's holding up the official unveiling of Mantle and I am really interested in seeing what the performance improvements will look like.

Didn't seem to change anything for me. Still crashes every 15 minutes or so almost like clockwork.
