Update: VGX 2013 trailer now included!

Bungie's Destiny has been given a release date. The studio's first game under the Activision umbrella will arrive on September 9, 2014 on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. The beta, meanwhile, has been pushed back to summer (missing its previous early 2014 window) with PS4/PS3 owners able to get the first crack at it.

"We first shared the design pillars of Destiny less than one year ago," said Bungie community manager David 'DeeJ' Dague in a blog post (via IGN). "We promised to redefine what players should expect from a Bungie game. We said we wanted to change the way people play games together. We set our bar high. For us, Destiny represents a once in a lifetime opportunity."

As stated previously, the Destiny beta will be available to anyone that pre-orders the game.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
