Slowly but surely, the PixelJunk series has been expanding beyond PlayStation platforms. The two most popular games in the franchise--Shooter and Monsters--are now available on yet a new platform: Mac OS X. Both games have been ported by Double Eleven.

PixelJunk Monsters (pictured) is one of the first games to popularize the tower defense genre when it debuted on PS3 back in 2007. The OS X version appears to be based on the recently-released Ultimate HD version for PC, which includes all the content from the Encore and Deluxe expansions of the game. It's available on the Mac App Store for $8.99.

PixelJunk Shooter followed in 2009, and combined twin-stick shooting with physics-based liquid puzzles. The game is also available on the Mac App Store for $8.99.

Franchise developer Q Games is working on yet another PixelJunk game. PixelJunk Inc is the first game in the series not to debut on a PlayStation console; it has been announced for PC only.
