Indie developer Rain Games' steampunk Metroidvania game, Teslagrad, has been given a release date. The magnetic platformer will hit PC, Mac, and Linux on December 13. The game is also set to come to consoles, but those folks will have to wait a little longer, as it will hit PS3 and Wii U digital shops in 2014.

Teslagrad centers around a young boy in the middle of an ancient conflict, who later discovers a gauntlet that operates on the principles of magnetism. Using the gauntlet's opposing polarity settings, players must venture through a vast tower with over 100 rooms and overcome five bosses. Examples of what players will encounter include rooms that require using the gauntlet to move across ceilings and switches that can only be accessed by bringing a ceiling of opposing polarity crashing down.

Teslagrad will be available for $9.99. Check out some of the action in the trailer below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
