The PlayStation 4, you may be surprised to learn, is still proving pretty popular with consumers. Sony's new console sold one million systems on its North American launch day of November 15, and now it's arrived in a load more countries, including launching in Europe last Friday, sales have passed 2.1 million.

Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House dropped the boast in a PlayStation Blog post this morning. "It's an impressive and record-setting accomplishment for our company and for our industry, and we couldn't have done it without you," he added.

Given all the one-upmanship of this new console generation, we can probably expect Microsoft to issue a sales update for the Xbox One soon. MS's new system sold one million on its launch day too, though its launch also included much of Europe, while the PS4 launch was far more staggered.
