Mode 7 is ready to hit the icy gridiron with Frozen Endzone, the developer's unique take on football. A new video shows off the futuristic sports-simulation hybrid in action, with Mode 7's co-founder, Paul Taylor, explaining how the game works. If the footage gets your competitive blood pumping, you'll be able to jump into the beta on December 5.

According to the video, the beta features four multiplayer modes, as well as randomly generated single-player challenges. Taylor hopes to eventually implement a single-player season mode, competitive leagues, the ability to change rules and field sizes, custom logos, and facial feature editors.

Beta keys will be given out to those who pre-order Frozen Endzone. As previously indicated, pre-orders will also include an extra copy for a friend, because what good is a competitive versus game without a friend to grind into slush? Check out the hard-hitting action in the trailer below, which also features Taylor narrating a full game.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
