BBC has been riding the popularity of the long-running television series Doctor Who, recently simulcasting the all-new "The Day of the Doctor" special worldwide. The network is now extending the Doctor's reach to mobile games, tapping Tiny Rebel Games and Seed Studio to create a new free-to-play puzzle-RPG adventure called Doctor Who: Legacy.

Legacy will follow the 11th Doctor (played on the show by Matt Smith) and have players create a team of companions and allies to run through match-3 puzzles against some of the Time Lord's greatest foes.

New content will be released throughout the game's lifespan, teasing the arrival of the 12th Doctor (set to be played in the show by Peter Capaldi), as well as heralding adventures that re-live adventures from the Doctor's previous incarnations. The game will also feature content from the upcoming new season of the television series in the near-future.

Doctor Who: Legacy releases on the App Store and Google Play store tomorrow.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
