Xbox Games with Gold adding Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots

Xbox Live's "Games with Gold" program is offering Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots in December.

22

Microsoft has announced its next two "Games with Gold" offerings for December. The month will net you the muscle-bound shooty game Gears of War and the arcade-styled also-shooty game Shoot Many Robots. Grubs and robots are just not going to have a good December.

Gears will roll out on December 1, followed by Shoot Many Robots on December 16. The games normally cost $19.99 and $9.99 through the Xbox Live Marketplace, respectively. Keep in mind, as always, that once you download a Games with Gold title, it's yours to keep whether you continue your Gold subscription or not.

With all do respect, you guys on Xbox are kinda getting screwed on this "Games with Gold". Seems like Microsoft keeps giving you games you can easily pick up in a bargain bin at Walmart for $5

agreed. PS+ is offering better and more recent games. however, you can keep games with gold even after you quit subbing so that's kind of nice. PS+ games disappear when you leave the service.

        And its "due" respect.

Why? Prior to the PS4 requiring it for multiplayer, what did PS+ offer besides the free games that's worth $50/year?

Gears? Really? Its likely my favourite game on 360 and if you haven't played it you should have by now, but the game is 7 years old. Its literally the only reason I bought a 360 over a ps3. Give me better games :(

I've wanted to try Shoot Many Robots for awhile now. Its one of those games that I probably would never pay for, but I'll try for free.

And with Gears of War MS continues its Games with Gold tradition of giving you games that you played 7 years ago. Free games are always welcome, but its laughable how much better the PS+ game offerings are.

They are so far off the mark with the titles they are releasing. I fully expect the first Xbox One title to be LocoCycle at this rate.

I think Shoot Many Robots is a fine choice though. It seems to be a good game that probably went under most people's radars at the time it was released. I know it's something I've always meant to pick up, and I definitely will now that it's free.

yeah, it's a good choice for a second game to give, but they need a better headliner than Gears

I guess I'm the only one that has been liking the games they've been releasing? To date I have downloaded and played Dead Rising 2 (Case 0 and the full game), M&M Clash of Heroes and A Kingdom of Keflings. The free game right now is fucking Iron Brigade which is awesome. What the fuck are you guys complaining about? Bunch of a goddamn internet whiners.

If you are relatively new to the 360 it's a good deal but people who've had it for a long while there's going to be a lot of games that they're giving away that most of them will have, so the value of the deal is not as good. I don't have XBL anymore but since they've started giving out games, I have like 80% of them and all of those I got when the game came out years ago.

I have had a 360 for like 7 years and I've played a number of the games they have released for free. I guess I just don't see the need to whine like a bunch of bitches about it.

Hey, I have three XBox 360s in the house and I've played the hell out of Gears but I'm happy to see this one. It means I don't need to run upstairs to get my disc anymore.

As I mentioned above, I already subscribe to Gold, so this is just a value add. And of the dozen+ games they've added, there have been a few I've wanted to try for a while that I just hadn't gotten around to for one reason or another.

But people are always going to find a reason to complain.

I'm fine with whatever they serve up too. Even if its old Gears, its been ages since I played that and no longer have the disc. All these games, whether I've had them previously or not, just get stored on the HDD ready for a time when I want to just fire up something. I now have a growing library of +40 games (existing + Games w/ Gold ones) on the HDD that I can instantly switch between.

Why even bother? This is in the same vein as giving people 20 ms pts for their birthday (25 cents). It would be better if they gave nothing at all and at least nor dash expectations. Give 25% off a game or something.

Giving ancient games very few want is not a perk. It's borderline insulting.

Yeah. $50 is a bit more than 25 cents, but as a Christmas bonus, it's quite low. "Oh, here you go. Go get a nice dinner. happy holidays" would have been a better approach.

I'll defend my point with this:
MS is only doing it because Sony is as a perk for paying for their PS+. But unlike MS, Sony is proving more or less recent games. Since MS charges more and arguably (short of stable multiplayer) provides less, this puts them at a further disadvantage. This was their chance to redeem themselves. Free games are free, true, but when you amp up your promotion of "free games" and then give games which are largely outdated, way past their prime, then what message does that send? I mean, there were 3 Gears games released since this one! Who would want it?

The 20 MS points I got is a pittance. It is completely useless to use for anything at their store. Nothing of substance costs that much. It _bugged_ me when I got that "happy birthday" email with 20 MS points. It read:

Congratulations! This month you'll be another year wiser. But what's a birthday without a sweet surprise? Try this: Enjoy 20 Microsoft Points as our gift to you. Use it toward anything you wish in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Why give a gift that is off no use? I was far happier with all the other business that gave me nothing at all that with MS at that instance.

Ultimately, it seems that if MS was invited to a Secret Santa gift exchange, they'd bring a VHS rewinder, and a strategy guide for Halo 2 still in its shrink wrap.

awesome! the first Gears is still one of the best multiplayer games on 360. It's the only MP game I've played more than 15 minutes in the last 12 months. I'm hoping the game will see an influx of new players next week.

Can questions from the beginning of this article really be answered? It's really hard to tell. Each human is different and social networks affect it in a different way. Although many people carry Facebook with themselves everywhere: to stores, caf??s, jobs, even bathrooms, many of them know where to draw the line between acceptable and unacceptable. One thing is for sure, if tomorrow Facebook stopped working and the [url=http://www.rsgoldfast.com/]Cheap Runescape Gol/url] was completely shut down, will there be any serious consequence to the world and people? - No. Certainly some would feel desperate, some would miss playing favorite games, some companies making money out of Facebook would disappear but in overall world would go on. Think about the market value that Facebook has now, and its impact if it disappeared the next day - can something like that be more valuable than if Samsung stopped producing TVs tomorrow or Boeing stopped producing airplanes... Well, this answers the initial question in a way.
