Cult favorite Bully has gotten another trademark registration, signaling a possible sequel. Take-Two Interactive filed a trademark in Europe for the title "Bully Bullworth Academy: Canis Canem Edit."

The trademark (via Polygon) was filed on November 20, and is still under examination. The Latin portion of the title was the original game's name in the UK, and translates to "dog eat dog."

Take-Two registered a trademark in July, simply for Bully, but the status was updated earlier this month with a note that it had been refused. In September, Rockstar's Dan Houser said he was interested in making a sequel, and that it could go in "a lot of directions."

Me! And I actually just pumped it up for the first time a few months ago and displayed it along with my other gaming collectibles.

Bully was so underrated, I can't wait to see where they take this series someday, but I am guessing this trademark is for an Android/iOS version of the original game.

Jimmy Hopkins: So how do I do it, Pete?
      Pete Kowalski: Do what?
Jimmy Hopkins: Beat those rich kids into submission?
Pete Kowalski: Well, what have you tried so far?
Jimmy Hopkins: Random violence, widespread destruction, gratuitous sadism.
Pete Kowalski: No, no that's not gonna work - they get all that kind of stuff at home.

I wonder how they plan on handling the more prevalent anti-bullying movements of today.

I was thinking the same thing when I read this. Will definitely be more controversial now due to the extent of anti-bully campaigning.

Wasn't the first game mostly childish pranks and cliche movie-style bullying, rather than serious/dangerous stuff?

Yeah, it was. Most people aren't going to dig into the actual gameplay though, just notice the title and the fact that you play the bully.

but you don't play the bully.

You were also the one who was being bullied and you were fighting back against the jocks / preppy rich kids.

Which actually goes against a lot of the anti-bullying campaign's messages. Don't retaliate and call an adult.

Actually that would be an lol option to have in the game.

That's for the upcoming spin-off, "Snitch".

Yes, because calling an adult has a long history of being oh-so-effective in cases of bullying.

IIRC, there was also quite a bit of the main character helping groups that are the ones typically bullied. I never played through the whole game, though.

Yeah that was the case even though the game did have complaints against it like MADD complaining you can drink and drive in GTA games without knowing that the game really punishes you for doing it.

I think they'll mainly complain the same way but more focus on how the game is not agreeing with how things should be handled.

There was some outrage from parents' groups when the original Bully was released, if I recall correctly.
