Assassin's Creed Pirates, the mobile spin-off of Assassin's Creed 4, is coming to iOS and Android on December 5. As previously reported, this will be similar in most respects to AC4's pirating mechanics, even including real-time naval combat.

The date comes from Ubisoft, and IGN reports it will be priced at $4.99. Similar to AC4, you'll upgrade your vessel, recruit your crew, and take on enemy ships. But instead of Edward Kenway, you'll be playing as Alonzo Batilia and searching for the legendary treasure of the pirate La Buse.

Will it be tablet-only like the AC4 app, or will iPhone users be able to play?

Other sites mentioned "newer tablets & phones". I believe iPad 2 and some of the newer iPhones were specifically listed, but not the iPad 1. They didn't elaborate anything on the Android devices supported.
