You might get a chance to try out Diablo 3's Reaper of Souls expansion before you ring in 2014. Blizzard has announced that it will be rolling out a closed beta test by the end of the year, following its currently-running Friends and Family test.

A post on Battle.net (via Polygon) notes that the invites will be "extremely limited," but community members will be handpicked and opt-ins will be available as it moves forward. Blizzard says it's keeping the beta limited because it includes all of the expansion content except the boss fight, so don't count on an open beta. Blizzard notes that to be considered for the beta, you should take a moment to make sure your Beta Profile settings are up-to-date.
