Lord of the Rings Online was due to get its Helm's Deep expansion today, but a power outage at developer Turbine has caused a temporary delay. The studio hasn't given word on how long this delay will last, but it seems to have gotten its main game functions back in working order pretty quickly.
Turbine announced the delay on Facebook (via Polygon). The problem stems from a power failure at their main data center, which temporarily halted activity on game servers and Web site functionality. Those have both been restored, and Turbine is currently working to help any users still having trouble logging into the servers.
Once the Helm's Deep expansion does launch, it will add the area of Western Rohan, including the big fancy fortress that served the major action set-piece in The Two Towers. It will also raise the level cap from 85 to 95. It will cost $39.99.
