Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will hit PlayStation 3 on March 18, 2014. That still very barely qualifies it for its previously announced winter release window. Square announced the date today, along with a Limited Edition for the set of two games.

As previously reported, the remastered games will include Eternal Calm (FFX) and Last Mission (FFX-2) that were previously only in the International versions. FFX-2 will also get a extended ending with some new voice-over work.

This is only the PS3 version, mind, and Square Enix says that the date for the Vita version will be announced sometime later.

As with the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 package, pre-orders will be upgraded to a Limited Edition, which comes with an artbook. Both versions of the game will retail for $40.

The package looks nice, I was just really hoping to play this in during the lull of PS4 games in between launch and the spring.

And once again, no info on the Vita version. I've pretty much given up hope, as the Vita version already appears as though it will be a rip-off. From what I've read Squeenix is breaking the two games up and selling them separately on Vita, and it hasn't even been confirmed if there will be a physical retail box for either game at all (doubtful...who would want to buy two separate games when they can get a deluxe PS3 version for the same price).

My hope is that in addition to the PS3 version of the game (which I've reluctantly pre-ordered), they'll offer a special discount on the vita versions and enable cross-save/cross-play between them. I'd be willing to pay an extra $10-20 for that.

But now that the PS4 is out, will they consider a PS4 compatible release? And I don't mean trying to make it even prettier for it, just a release that will run on it.

No, and be glad they won't. This port/HDmake has taken far longer than is reasonable already.

I loved FFX, but I could never really get into FFX-2. Should I try it again?

The job system in it is the best the series has seen.

This, if you can get past the J-popness of it, it is a really fun game.
