Well, everybody knows what mod I prefer :) But I hope that everybody who likes the JB/PoW style of play will try both Mods. When we created the PoW maps, we concentrated more on the gameplay less on the arcitecture. Everybody agrees that some of those JB maps looking fucking awesome. But then again, our best maps look just as good.

Something that people DO forget is that PoW and Jailbreak ARE different from eachother. Yes, we took the Jailbreak Prison/Jail idea, but I think that most people will agree that the mods play a LOT different from eachother. Some people prefer PoW, some prefer JB and some play both. Just the fact you cant escape from PoW prisons means a big change in gameplay.

I really hope that people will put there differences aside and try out both mods, be you anti-JB or anti-PoW. They are both quite good, and both teams busted there asses off trying to make them for you people. The fact is, we do this for free and all we want is to see people enjoying the work we put in.

Thanks for the comments guys. I definately feel that this beta is alot better than previous versions, and much more like what we feel Jailbreak for Q3 should be. Sul and I put alot of work into the new maps, bringing new and old styles together. For two mappers, I feel we did an excellent job.

Yes, I know that POW has 24 maps, and we don't have quite as many.. but I feel that sometimes, quantity does not equal quality.

I won't get involved in a discussion over what mod is the best, but I can say that we took out time and made sure that the latest release was of the highest quality. All the maps were playtested and all are very fun. Each map is different and unique, in style and gameplay. The Garden of Gethesame is actually inspired by a screenshot of an Id map that was dropped before Q3A was shipped. (see http://www.quake3arena.com/screenshots/ss_02151999_3.html )

We really worked over the bot code. The bots will hit the release button and free you, and they aid you in your escape out of prison by kneeling/jumping below the escape hole. (although they do like to camp the release buttons a bit too much ;) Many thanks goes to MrElusive for his help in getting the bots to work properly.

I played Quake2 jailbreak back when it first came out and it was fun for a while, but the fun just did'nt last. I think it was fun in the first place just because it was new and different. It did'nt catch on then, it won't catch on now with PoW and JB3.

I think that the jailbreak type gameplay is fundamentally flawed. It just does'nt have mass appeal. That's why there are'nt more people playing it. There is just something about it that makes people not play it.

As a person who has played both mods I would have to say that I still prefer POW's maps, over jailbreaks oooh ahhh pretty but plays real shitty maps. No offense to the mappers who may have p3 29102391 and what not, the maps look awesome but the frames suck ass.

As people have been saying already POW is the better mod, lots of maps, and most of them quality maps, you guys that play POW whats your handle? Mines DoPEaMiNE.

Q2 Jailbreak was cool.. then again I liked Q2 weapons/physics. Is it basically the same thing again? Just die-> go to jail -> try to break out? They did not really change anything did they?

heh I loved Q2 JB, played god knows how many hours, guess I might as weel giive the newQ3 version a whirl.

POW is/was actually pretty good. I think its the next best Q3 mod after RA3. Its a shame not enough people are playing it. They have released 2 more versions since I last played and the first one was real solid.

JB for q2 was fun indeed but not near as fun as LMCTF, the good old days have come and gone at last. I actually deleted q1, q2 and q3 5 months ago but put q3 back on to get in a few rounds of RA for old times sake.

Members of the Q2JB community, dissatisfied with RXN ignoring show-stopping bugs in their mod, delaying patches for months and months (earning them the title: team DEALYED reaction), split off for Q3A to make their own version with all the features, stability and quality Q2JB should have had, but never did. Didn't the Q2 JB team also make QPong? Did anyone else ever try that mod? QPong rocked my sorry world.

I enjoyed q3 jailbreak when it came out,now I can't find anyone playing..:)

This is actually a really fun mod. I have doubts as to how well bots will handle it but its the best Q3 non-class-based mod so far imho

I haven't heard anything about this but it sounds kind of cool. It could get a bit one sided before the executions but games with a lot of people could be better.

Is the final beta equal to the first release? Sigh, just make it official-like.
