XBox Dev Kits Shipping
by Steve Gibson, Jul 31, 2000 3:39pm PDTMicrosoft has just announced that they are now shipping the XBox development kits out to game developers around the world. What does that mean? We will probably (hopefully) get some reactions from actual game developers instead of MS PR hype sometime in the fairly near future if this thing is really worth while.
Today's PC-based XDK system is designed to provide developers with maximum freedom to create. It includes early graphics hardware, a large hard drive, a beta version of DirectX 8, technical documentation, and off-the shelf game pads that simulate Xbox functionality.7:30 update: Here is a story over at Gamecenter with a few more details on XBox plans.
