Can Rayman Legends get any prettier? We'll be able to find out next year, when the UbiArt-powered platformer makes its way to PS4 and Xbox One in February.

Ubisoft confirmed the next-gen release at an earnings call today, pointing out that the game has sold about one million units to date so far. While impressive, that's less than what Ubisoft had originally expected.

"PS4 and Xbox One will be released in a few days' time and will be a new driving force for the industry," Guillemot said in a statement (via IGN). "We are confident in our capacity to rise to the short-term challenges posed by the transition phase, thanks to the very high quality of our games, which, combined with the upcoming arrival of the next-generation consoles and the traditional ramp-up of sales during the Christmas season will trigger positive momentum towards the end of the year."

The reason this game didn't sell might be because it retails for $59.99. People don't expect to pay that much for a 2-d platformer.

they buy Mario at that cost all the time and Rayman is as good or better than recent 2D Mario games

Rayman is quite good, but NSMB U is really fucking good, in my opinion the best 2D Mario since Mario World, and quite similar too it in many ways. I would disagree with your claim.

(But I'm not disagreeing that Rayman is worth the money!)

aggregate review scores have Rayman Legends on every platform above NSMB U and most or all of the other recent 2D Mario efforts. I haven't played NSMBU myself.

I've played both, and this is my own opinion.

I can't imagine this game being any prettier! I think it was at 1080p on my PS3. I played the PC version on my retina way back and had it at some insane reso, like 2800x1880

This could be next-gen's first 4k game.

It's an amazing looking and playing game. I just made my way through the entire Vita version (all teensies!) and I'd do it all over again. I do wonder how the non-touchscreen levels and elements work on home consoles though. I like what they did on the Vita, they did a great job utilizing the screens.
