Hearthstone's final version will feature cross-platform play

Hearthstone's mobile versions won't feature a beta, like its PC counterpart, however once all versions are final and released, they'll all be able to play against each other.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is also coming to iOS and Android. And once all versions are finalized and released, they'll be able to interact with one another.

Lead designer Eric Dodds confirmed that the PC version of Hearthstone will release first, with iOS and Android versions coming later. However, since Hearthstone decks are tied to a player's Battle.net account, cards can be accessed across all platforms. Not only that, but card battles can also be conducted cross-platform.

"You could start in the morning playing on your PC and then, in the afternoon, pick up your iPad and you'll have all of your decks there," Dodds added. "When you're choosing to play, I might be playing against some other iPad person or I might be playing against the PC version."

Hearthstone's mobile version is expected to release in the second half of 2014.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I have just started playing this as of last week and it's pretty fun but not totally what I want as a PC game. On the otherhand I heard it is coming to android and that will be a perfect fit.

My productivity is going to drop a solid 20% when a mobile version of hearthstone hits.

I saw this and same thing. I don't get to play it much but man I have such a long commute, train time!

I never got into the whole CCG format. So was excited to try the beta. ugh. Man, I've gotten old and crusty. I totally suck. Other than the overly simple tutorial I haven't won a single battle yet (vs the ai). I guess the hard part for someone totally new the genre is that I can't tell if it's just my strategy or if my deck is all wrong. Guess I need to just come up with a few different decks and see what works for me.

Cross platform play would be pretty cool.

I hope you can move your decks between platforms.

I'd imagine they are bound to the same account and you're just logging into the same one, no? Would be pretty silly otherwise.

Safe to assume the mobile version is online only as all other Blizz products are these days, so it'll all reside server-side.

        That's a yes.

I think it's pretty even now that they've nerfed a couple of the problem combo cards. I don't think the coin is a big deal other than combo interactions and some shaman overload stuff. A lot of times when I get a coin I'm playing it on like turn 3 or 4.
