The most iconic game of the Wii generation is finally available on Wii U... sort of. The first two games of Wii Sports Club are now available for download on the eShop.

Tennis and bowling make their debut today, with three more games coming in the following months. The Wii U version will feature enhanced HD graphics, new controls that support Wii MotionPlus, and online multiplayer. There's also Miiverse support, which allows players to join various state or regional clubs.

Interestingly, you can download a 24-hour trial of the game from the eShop. Once the free trial period is over, you'll be able to buy a $1.99 pass that unlocks the game for 24 hours, or buy each sport individually for $9.99. Nintendo also isn't ruling out a full retail release for the game after all five sports are released.

I'm usually pretty nice towards Nintendo, but this here almost screams money-grabbing.

I'm hoping it paves the way for future 1st party titles to have online multiplayer. lol

Well, you don't have to buy it. Me, I like the idea of a HD Wii Sports remake, but the pricing does seem a bit excessive.

So do I, but as you said, it is overpriced. And their pricing scheme isn't making it any easier to swallow.
