Battlefield 4 has had about a week out in the wild, and sure enough, the wild has found a host of bugs to fix. Developer DICE has responded to reports of various bugs in the PC version, and made a thorough outline of its progress on squashing them.

A lengthy thread (via Eurogamer) on the Battlefield forums lists the known issues, and categorizes them into a few categories: fixed, fix rolling out or upcoming, investigating, or pending future patch. Still on the pile to investigate are reports of single-player save file corruption, and missing promotional items. Game freezes and crashes are being stomped "as we identify them." A handful of recent updates have been targeted at server crashes.

"We would like to thank all players who have been reporting their issues to us--your feedback is invaluable when making sure we can deliver the Battlefield 4 experience you all deserve," the post states. "In true DICE fashion, we will keep supporting Battlefield 4 for a long time, and we appreciate your feedback and patience as we work these issues out."

The semi-regular crashes are the only bug I care about. Though the loss of sound on some levels is a bit annoying.

I was about halfway through the single player and had my game get erased! Not too happy about that. Otherwise I had some minor bugs in multiplayer such as a couple server disconnect issues and the sound bugged out on the railway map. Too bad because other than these bugs I've really been enjoying this game!

Erased how? I noticed that it took ages for my single-player achievements to update my Battlelog and I feared that I'd have to re-play the missions to have them successfully synchronize. Luckily, I just had to wait a couple of hours.

I don't know. I just went to play and it only game me a new game option. Yet the battlelog actually shows that I completed the levels.

I'm on a bad run today, can't seem to finish a game without it crashing on me. Takes a few minutes to recover too :(

Well it's clear that the PC still takes a back seat to console stability despite what they say.

I dislike EA as much as the next "big business is evil" guy. But really... bugs aside the game play and atmosphere in Battlefield 4 [and predecessors] are so far above and beyond anything COD [current and predecessors] offers that they are not even considered the same genre of game, let alone competitors.

Yes it would be great if it was released in a more stable form, but that is always an issue for every title out there. No software has been released nigh perfect in recent history that I can think of except for a few independent games where there was no firm release date.

We are all [who play Battlefield 4] been getting constant crashes and other issues, but we also have been having tons of fun playing. More than any other title has given in recent years.

Yeah I'm with ya there. Will I buy the next BF game? Fuck yeah, but I'm not preordering or buying that shit on release. I'll wait a few weeks.

You guys should have known this would happen, as it has happened with EVERY SINGLE BATTLEFIELD RELEASE SINCE 1942. Why would it be any different this time? Give it a month or two to stabilize, then pick it up on sale somewhere.

Honestly, with the complexity of today's games combined with the multitudes of various configuration differences among PCs, I'm stunned that as many games work as well as they do at launch.

I've accepted that the complexity of games today means there's going to be a much greater chance of launch-time bugs, despite all the beta testing they do. What matters to me is how quickly the developer/publisher reacts to that.

That said, I've yet to pick up BF4 because I primarilty play these games single player (I know, I know...) and that SP campaign is reviewing pretty poorly.

BF3's single player was incredibly boring. FEAR 1 had a really well done single player campaign, mostly due to AI. Why can't games take inspiration from that?

It has some issues, sure, but I don't feel ripped off at all. The game is excellent.

every release has been buggy for a couple of weeks. every release has also ended up excellent with long-term one to two year lifespans minimum and loads of content. i don't think anyone should be shocked at a buggy launch. the game's not unplayable, performance is pretty great, and considering the scope of the game, i can forgive some of the rough start.

honestly, there are different standards for different game releases. if a single-player adventure game had these bugs, it'd be really bad.

lol I was debating on buying it, then I thought about it and said screw it because you basically need to buy premium with it. And I already bought premium for BF3 which was great for the expansions but I don't get why you would have to buy it again for BF4. I'll wait till its about $20 then I'll get it, no where near worth $100.

Depends on what you define as worth of a game. If you pay $100 and end up playing this base game plus all of the DLC with premium for 300+ hours, then that is 33 cents per hour of gameplay. I'd say that's pretty good worth for your entertainment dollar.

Why would you need to buy premium with it? There will be no shortage of standard basic servers running the vanilla maps for a long time.

People don't like feeling they are missing out on the whole experience. I'm going to buy Premium because I like this game a lot and the expansions look cool, but I can't help feel that I'm being forced into it. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The game is buggy as hell, the servers crash out under you, single player hangs, hit boxes are terrible at times etc etc etc. The list goes on and on...however you get that one great round in and it takes away all the frustration from the entire days mishaps. My god what a game!

Yup, I don't feel sorry for anyone experiencing bugs with EA products. This happens with EVERY single EA product, because people buy their buggy shit anyway. ALL EA PRODUCTS ARE RELEASED WITHOUT PROPER BETA OR TESTING. It's not news to most of the buyers, but they're suckers for pretty graphics and have 2 weeks worth of working memory.
