$100 Wii Mini launching in US this month

How curious it was that Nintendo originally only released the Wii Mini in Canada, last December. The shrunken, stripped-down console later launched across Europe in early 2013, but still not the US--or even Japan. Apparently now is the time, though, as Nintendo today announced the Wii Mini will arrive in US stores "by the middle of November" at $99.99.

One Benjamin would get you the red-framed black console, a red Wiimote Plus, a red Nunchuk, and a copy of Mario Kart Wii. Which sounds quite nice, until you realise what else it'll cost you.

The Wii Mini has no online support, no GameCube compatibility, no SD card slot, only one USB port, and fewer video output options. Still, many people won't need those or notice their absence.

What Wii exclusives are worth playing? I might pick one of these up if I'm missing a couple classics. What was the actiony RPG everyone was raving about two years ago?

If you're getting stomped by Dickson, then you've got bigger issues immediately following him. It's been a while, but I believe you can leave and go farm because you're going to need some more levels to beat the game.

I keep hitting the Inf button over and over, but it just adds one and then takes one away. This deserves 100 inf's from everyone

Best game on that platform, bar none.

DON'T BUY THIS VERSION OF THE WII!

Unless Nintendo has changed the model since the Canadian release, the Wii Mini does not support component cables and 480p. It can only output composite (yellow plug, 480i, NES had it in1985). So if you don't mind grainy, fuzzy, and washed out picture, then go ahead and get one of these.

          1. No Online
          2. No Component Output
          3. No GameCube BC
          4. No SD Card Slot
          5. Unable to Transfer Saves.

          It's a pretty dumb product.

Yeah, forgot about no online, which means no Virtual Console, which is one of the best things about the Wii.

Regular Wii models for the past few years haven't had GC backwards compatibility either, so if the OP wants that, he'll have to go to craigslist. Unless he already owns a GC, he should definitely go that route.

Even "normal" Wii's stopped being back compatible with Gamecube a couple of years ago. I found this out the hard way - I was waaaay late to the Wii party myself and only got one last year. I was very disappointed to find out they're not back compatible any more. :(

I keep forgetting about Mad World. I bought it on release, got halfway through it and kept failing on a certain part and rage quit and sold it back to gamestop. Was a fun game though.

I don't get it. I know this is good for choice but at the same time if people aren't recognizing the WiiU as a new device then why release something else to further compete with the brand name?
