Double Dragon Trilogy heading to mobile devices

The Double Dragon series was a trailblazer for the beat-em-up genre, as well as the game that shocked our young eyes by having the badguy straight-up punch the damsel in the gut. Now more than 25 years later, it's heading where all retro games seem to eventually end up: mobile devices. Retro port house DotEmu has announced that Double Dragon Trilogy will hit iOS and Android devices near the end of this year.

It compiles the original Double Dragon, Double Dragon 2: The Revenge, and Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone. You might be more familiar with the subtitle "The Sacred Stones" for the third one, as that was the name used for the North American version.

The Trilogy will include an Arcade and Story mode, for aiming for a high score or just unlocking new stages and achievements, respectively. You can customize your controls, and it features three difficulty levels: mobile, original, and expert. The "mobile" challenge is said to be balanced for mobile devices, which probably makes it a good bit easier. It also includes both the 8-bit soundtrack and a remastered one, and controller support. Obviously, it wouldn't be Double Dragon without co-op, so it includes that mode via Bluetooth.
