Uncharted 3's final update makes every multiplayer map free

Uncharted 3 is bidding farewell to its updates with one more big patch, a free map, and the release of previous map packs for free.

Uncharted 3 is about to turn two years old, and developer Naughty Dog is finally ready to stop working on the game. A final patch will add one new multiplayer map to the game: Dry Docks. Adapted from a single-player stage, the map was cut in the game's original run. And now, it's been revived and released for free. In fact, all existing maps are now free.

You can also head to the in-game store to download the Flashback Map Pack 1, Flashback 2, and Drake's Deception Map Packs, all for free. The multiplayer itself has been free-to-play for a while too. The birthday also includes some discounts on multiplayer items, of which there are plenty, through November 4.

If this sounds like it has a sense of finality to it, that's because this is Naughty Dog signalling that it is closing the book on Uncharted. 3. "This will be the final major patch to Uncharted 3 unless there's a dire need for a future one," the game's official site notes. "Our support for the game will continue via Lab updates and community events."
