Assassin's Creed 4 trailer shows off PC graphics bits

We've already seen fancy graphical whizzbangs in the next-generation console versions of Assassin's Creed IV, but the PC has a few extra tricks up its sleeve. A new trailer from Nvidia shows off a few effects the graphics card company has worked with Ubisoft exclusively for its cards, which may not be huge but are welcome.

Nvidia seems to be thankfully restrained this time around, holding off on garish PhysX effects. Or not boasting about them, anyway. PCnauts with Nvidia cards, and enough processing muscle, can look forward to tech including Percentage-Closer Soft Shadows, improved "god rays," Horizon Based Ambient Occlusion+, and Temporal Anti-Aliasing. Basically, they'll all make for nicer lighting and fewer harsh edges.

AC4 launches Tuesday for Xbox 360 and PS3, but the PC version isn't due until November 19.

Friend of mine played a demo build somewhere on the PS4 and was disgusted by it, either it was an early build or the hardware was sucking because he said it ran like poop, texture res was poop, just poop all the way around... sad because I know ppl that worked on it so hopefully it will get better

Still not sold on AC4. AC3 kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.

See, I felt AC3 was the best in the series.

I found Brotherhood to be the best, but AC3 was not as bad as everyone made it out to be. The problem was Conner was a whiny bitch who never felt like he was in control of his own destiny, and I think that threw people off.

Ezio always felt like he was in charge and out to do something. Conner felt like he was being dragged around by his glorious black pate, and never made any decisions on his own.

Sometimes you just have to play the game to notice a difference. With Far Cry 2, I remember seeing DX9 vs DX10 screenshots, and thinking that neither one looked better than the other. But when I actually played the game in DX10 mode, I realized that the DX10's lighting just felt more natural.

yeah, i guess so... i only just got a card that can handle all the bells and whistles so i don't have much experience yet, but from these videos and screen shots i kind of just shrug my shoulders.

Nvidia should just drop TXAA, and find another way to remove motion jaggies.
Yes it removes jaggies specially motion jaggies but at a big performance hit and it blurs the image greatly.
So basically what it does it consume a lot of resources to make the game look worse.
