More than three years after its Xbox 360 and PS3 release, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West has finally released on PC. We quite enjoyed the game, if you recall. Now available on Steam as a "Premium Edition," the PC release includes the original game as well as "Pigsy's Perfect 10."

Beyond the included DLC, it doesn't appear the PC version has any added bells and whistles beyond the now-standard Steam support for Big Picture Mode, Achievements, and Cloud Saves. It does launch at a budget price, however: $19.99.

The PC version will undoubtedly look prettier than the console version, but don't expect too much of an overhaul, as evidenced by the rather meager system requirements:

  • OS: Windows XP SP2, Vista or higher

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.20GHz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+

  • Memory: 2 GB RAM

  • Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 9600/ ATI Radeon HD 4850

  • DirectX: Version 9.0c

  • Hard Drive: 12 GB available space

I love seeing games like this come out on PC, even with it being so late. I hope it becomes more common.

Well, better late than never. Is this game cool?

Kind of makes me wonder if this is a step to porting it to the new consoles.

Given that the PC release doesn't have too many extra bells and whistles, I don't think so. Still surprised it took this long, given it was Unreal Engine-powered to begin with.

[update] Note this game has no extra features for the PC what so ever(visually) other than the resolution you can choose. So far that is all I can see.

Pretty stupid if you ask me :( , its a cool game I have it on the 360 but if your goanna take this long to release it and put it out on the PC put a little effort into it.

Anyways I am sure I will enjoy it, just saying.

Yeah, it's weird there is no graphics options. It does look good still though.

Can you at least force AA through NVInspector or anything?

I am sure you can juice it up, so I guess it's not a big deal.

I'm not surprised this is the case. It seems much cheaper to just get it working in one configuration instead of bug testing all kinds of user settings. And this way it will be pretty clear cut on whether your PC can run it or not: have at least the min CPU and RAM, and what resolution/FPS you can get will be determined by your GPU.

So yeah, for games that didn't sell well on consoles, this is about the best we can expect. I'd be ecstatic if we got Vanquish in the same fashion.
