Fable Legends launch to signify 'Season One' of content

Fable Legends is planning a long lifespan, and game director David Eckelberry says the launch content will be comparable to "Season One" of a TV show. Other "seasons" will follow with DLC.

We know that Lionhead intends to make Fable Legends last a long time, so naturally it's planning plenty of downloadable content. The studio recently explained a little more of its episodic DLC strategy, referring to the launch content as "season one."

"The storyline is absolutely there and very important," game director David Eckelberry told IGN. "Of course there's a higher purpose with a broad storyline that combines the various quests. But we tell new stories all the time. That's the beauty of episodic content. We don't want Fable Legends to stop when you finish the game. You should think about seasons and episodes. Fable Legends might just be Season One and we can add new quests and stories in the future, in the form of DLC for example."

Eckelberry also reasserted that their goal is to make Fable Legends evolve over the course of several years, instead of the standard release strategy that packs in DLC within a few months following release.
